How to Get Clients with Social Networking Event

This is the hottest topic with my clients right now. I think Biana Babinsky knows her stuff.

I had such a good time last night. I watched The David Lynch Foundation Change Begins Within Concert with Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr (plus a dozen other performers) THROUGH the tweets of people actually in the audience at Radio City Music Hall, New York (all while I sat in my living room in remote Iowa).
The event planners didn’t advertise a “#” hashtag for the event (note to presenters ALWAYS advertise the offical hashtag), so I had to design and implement a search and find mission!
By the end of the event I had 10 Twitter Search pages up based on keywords (Ringo, Paul McCartney, David Lynch, Howard Stern, etc…) plus the three David Lynch TV backstage staff members who were tweeting away. @heatherhartnett @EdenWeaver @amymydarling (with one of the funniest Tweets of the night “RINGO STARR is on stage!! I may pass out. Am I really watching this?! From like, FEET away?!” which is funny because she is in her twenties…
I got instant reactions from people when performers took the stage and rocked the house. I saw the pictures they uploaded right there on TwitPic, I surfed from one to another back and forth in an endless stream of reactions and comments from people as diverse as twitterworld itself.
Then (in the ultimate of technology fun) I shared my computer screen with a friend in Florida using Glance.net so she could see and read all the tweets from the audience with me at the same time.
It’s New World. I may never venture out into the “real” world again. But You Guys have to keep going out and tweeting back to me – OK?

I know the title of this blog sounds like some esoteric X-File technique…but it’s a process I use with my clients. I conducted two different types of remote viewing sessions today.
The first one was session one of my 3Headed World catalyst consulting program. I use http://Glance.com to share my computer screen, and connected voice via phone (because this particular session was with a client in my hometown). We worked on her usp and blog, organized media and generally got all the balls rolling toward a very powerful internet marketing push – all while both of us watched my screen and worked together! I’ll keep you posted on the launch date…
The second remote viewing session was with a client’s client…an ongoing tutorial session on how to use Outlook. Most people don’t use Outlook in the way it was designed. I teach – even long-time users – how to re-orient themselves with it so their daily calendar- tasks – etc support them daily. Fun stuff!

MarketingProfs’ Digital Marketing World virtual conference
Posted by phyllisonthebeach under UncategorizedLeave a Comment
whew! I attended the MarketingProfs’ Digital Marketing World virtual conference today. Instead of booking a flight, hotel room, packing a bag and going to another city – I signed in – and enjoyed the whole thing my my home office. I “virtually” walked up and down the tradeshow floor – chatted with several people at the booths – gathered brochures and papers to put in my “virtual briefcase” and sat in on a few fabulous presentations in the auditorium ALL while hanging out in the “lounge” and whooping it up with people from all over the world! I didn’t have any technical problems with the event, but I did see a few people in the chat rooms with issues with sound and connection. Of course, the one hysterical event was…the STAPLER…(that will only make sense to you if you attended a particular presentation in the afternoon…).
The best presentation was David Plouffe, Campaign Manager, Barack Obama’s 2008 Presidential Campaign. If you want to read through some of his points do a twitter search for #mpworld or search his name.
I fully thought I’d be able to “attend” this virtual conference AND do my other work at the same time – well – no – not one bit. So to all my clients reading this – today was my day off – I’ll double up the work tomorrow!
I thought this virtual conference was well done – good job MarketingProfs’ Digital Marketing World virtual conference! And did I mention – it was free. Great content – great marketing – and you can access the event for the next 90 days.

snow day March 28, 2009
Last week it was in the 70’s – today it’s snowing – classic Iowa Spring. I just thought I’d share the view from my home office. I’ve put on my favorite “bird singing” soundtrack and pretending I’m not here.

Miss Phyllis CD is STILL selling around the world
Posted by phyllisonthebeach under UncategorizedLeave a Comment
I’m still in awe at the longevity of this music. Most of the songs were written when my children were very young (they are now grown and married!).
I have a couple of generations who have danced and sung along to these tunes since 1985. wow
If you have young children – or grandchildren…go listen. It’s so easy to download off cdbaby, itunes or your favorite music site. Thanks for spreading the music! These tunes have been sold in Japan, Europe, South America, and many other countries since the 80’s!
